Cable shall be <br />installed in a 1 inch PVC schedule 40 conduit <br /> <br />All conductors shall be the same type and size shown on the drawings <br />as required for proper operation of the system. <br /> <br />Wire Splices <br /> <br />Conductors shall be installed with NO UNDERGROUND splices unless <br />absolutely necessary and unavoidable. Any and all underground <br />splices that are required to be made, must be approved by the City <br />inspector and shall be placed in a suitable type 14 inch by 19 inch <br />valve box for easy access. <br /> <br />Wire splices on the communication or sensor cable shall be made with <br />a splice kit. <br /> <br />Pull Boxes <br /> <br />Pull boxes shall be fabricated from a durable plastic material resistant <br />to weather, sunlight, and chemical action of soil. Pull boxes shall be a <br />minimum size of 20 inches in length, 15.25 inches in width and 12 <br />inches in height. In paved areas, the pull box shall be a concrete type <br />with a cast iron lid. <br /> <br />Ground Rod <br /> <br />A 5/8 inch by 8 foot ground rod, clamp and #10 wire shall be provided <br />at every controller location. It shall be installed within the enclosure, <br />through the concrete, and shall not extend above the surface of the <br />concrete more than 8 inches. <br /> <br />All central control system equipment shall grounded to conform to <br />requirements of the National Electric Code, current edition as adopted <br />by the City, and the manufacturer's specifications. No solder <br />connections will be allowed. Resistance to ground shall be no more <br />than 75 ohms. <br /> <br />Controller Assembly <br /> <br />The number and location of the controllers shall be as shown on the <br />drawings (if applicable) and shall be as manufactured by either Rain <br />Master (Evolution DX2 model) or Calsense (ET2000 model) or <br />approved equal. <br /> <br />All controllers shall be pre-assembled by the equipment supplier as <br />specified in Schedule "A" of the bid documents. <br /> <br />The controller assembly may consist of a stainless steel enclosure, <br />stainless steel removable backboard and two sideboards, interconnect <br /> <br />CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />Irrigation Central Control System Specifications <br /> <br />06/07/00 <br />Page 2 <br />
