<br />9 \-\-{o <br /> <br />3.1.8 A nylon or polypropylene pull rope with a minimum tensile strength of <br />500 pounds shall be installed in all conduit$ which are to receive future <br />interconnect cable. At least 2 feet of pull rope shall be extended beyond <br />each end of the conduit run and secured. <br /> <br />3.2 Interconnect Conductors <br /> <br />3.2.1 All interconnect conductors shall be pulled by hand. <br /> <br />3.2.2 A total of 3 feet of cable shall be left at each controller assembly and <br />pull box. Sufficient slack shall be left to allow the wire to extend 18 <br />inches above the top of the pull box grade. <br /> <br />3.2.3 The interconnect wire shall be continuous from controller to controller. <br />All splices shall occur within the controller enclosure unless specifically <br />authorized by the City. Splices shall be capable of satisfactory operation <br />under continuous submersion in the water. <br /> <br />3.3Pull Boxes <br /> <br />3.3.1 <br /> <br />Pull boxes shall be installed at intervals not to exceed two hundred feet <br />and at all changes in direction and where the conduit crosses a <br />roadway, bridge or railroad track (with a 36 inch loop inside the box) <br /> <br />3.3.2 Pull boxes shall be installed in area to be landscaped whenever <br />possible. <br /> <br />3.3.3 The bottom of the pull box shall be bedded in crushed rock six inches <br />deep prior to installation of the interconnect cable. <br /> <br />4. EQUIPMENT SUPPLIER SUPPORT <br /> <br />4.1 Review system and plans. <br /> <br />4.2 Conduct one pre-construction meeting on site, for the contractor and owners' <br />representative. <br /> <br />4.3 Hook-up communication and flow sensor or cable inside the assembly. <br /> <br />4.4 Test to verify proper grounding. <br /> <br />4.5 Field test for proper operation of the assembly components. <br /> <br />4.6 Communication cable continuity and resistance test. <br /> <br />4.7 Calibration of assembly flow sensing components (if applicable). <br /> <br />4.8 Calibrate and test weather station (if applicable). <br /> <br />CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />Irrigation Central Control System Specifications <br /> <br />06/07/00 <br />Page 4 <br />
