- REPORT To the Honorable Mayor and City Council From the City Manager June 26, 2000 Subject Final Acceptance - 1998-1999 Watermain Replacement Project Engineering File No. 806-08 Recommendation Accept the 1998-1999 Watermain Replacement Project, and authorize the release of bonds and retention. Background On June 14, 1999, the City Council awarded the construction contract for the 1998- 1999 Watermain Replacement Project to West Valley Construction Company, Inc. of San Jose, California, for the amount of $1,791,440. This year's program includes the replacement of 15,000 linear feet of watermain in the following areas: 1. Brewster Avenue (16" watermain from Alameda de las Pulgas to EI Camino Real). 2. Charter Street (12" watermain from Middlefield Road to Spring Street). 3. Spring Street (12" watermain from Woodside Road to 2nd Avenue). 4. Woodland Avenue (8" watermain from Lakeview Way to Park Road). The project was designed and inspected by Engineering & Construction staff. The construction was coordinated with and assisted by the staff of the Water Section of the Public Works Services Department. The project has been successfully completed in accordance with the plans and specifications for a total cost of $1,854,009.80. One Change Order was issued for a total of $2,721.00, which represents 0.2% of the original bid price. One special Task Order was issued for the Claremont Avenue Watermain Replacement in the amount of $59,848.80, which represents 3.3% of the original bid price (approximately 50% of the cost will be reimbursed by the property owner of 77B Claremont).
