• 1
REPORT
To the Honorable Mayor and City Council
From the City Manager
August 14, 2000
Subject
Summary Vacation and Construction Agreement - Twin Dolphin Drive and Redwood
Shores Parkway - Engineering File No. 801-05
Recommendation
Adopt a Resolution to take the following actions:
a. Summarily vacate portions of the "non-access restriction" along the right-of-way
line of Twin Dolphin Drive and along the right-of-way line of Redwood Shores
Parkway.
b. Accept the offers to dedicate right-of-way for street purposes, and relinquishment
of new non-access restrictions along the new right-of-way line of Twin Dolphin
Drive and the new right-of-way line of Redwood Shores Parkway.
c. Approving and authorizing execution of agreement for improvements at the
Towers @ Shores Center.
Background
Spieker Properties (the developer) will be constructing two office buildings and a
parking structure at the northerly corner of Twin Dolphin Drive and Redwood Shores
Parkway.
As part of the improvement plans, the developer has requested two access points to
the site. One access will be constructed on Twin Dolphin Drive and the other on
Redwood Shores Parkway. In order to gain access at these two locations, the City is
required to vacate portions of the existing non-access restriction on Twin Dolphin Drive
and on Redwood Shores Parkway. The developer is required to: (1) dedicate rights-of-
way on Twin Dolphin Drive and on Redwood Shores Parkway for right-turn lanes, and
(2) relinquish new non-access restrictions along the new right-of-way line of Twin
Dolphin Drive and Redwood Shores Parkway. Since the City will be widening Redwood
Shores Parkway, the City has agreed to incorporate the construction of the right-turn
lane on Redwood Shores Parkway into the City's project. The developer has agreed to
pay all costs associated with the design and construction of the right-turn lane, and
deposited $25,000 in the City's account for this purpose. The final amount will be
determined following the completion of construction.
_. _ . .._ .
