REPORT <br /> To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br /> From the City Manager <br /> August 14, 2000 <br /> Subject <br /> Agreement for Consultant Landscape Architectural Services for the Maddux Park <br /> Playground Renovation Project <br /> Recommendation <br /> Adopt a resolution approving and authorizing execution of agreement with Moore, <br /> Incofano and Goltsman (MIG), Inc. of Berkeley, California, for providing consultant <br /> landscape architectural services for the Maddux Park Playground Renovation Project, <br /> in an amount not to exceed $41,605. <br /> Background <br /> On February 24, 2000, a public meeting was held at Red Morton Center to discuss the <br /> schematic design alternatives of Maddux Park. Approximately 50 residents attended <br /> the meeting, and participated in defining the goals and visions for the park, as well as <br /> the desirable features in the park as follows: <br /> Goals and Visions for Maddux Park <br /> � The park should be safe for toddlers. <br /> � The park should have a neighborhood focus. <br /> � The park should be colorful! <br /> � Gear the play area improvements on young children (2-5). <br /> � Locate play elements close enough for easy supervision. <br /> � Retain the existing trees. <br /> Desirable Features and Elements <br /> � There should be seating close to play elements. <br /> :- Benches/seating to support a variety of activities, including parents with young <br /> children using the ptay areas, people visiting the park for passive recreation, <br /> small group seating. <br /> � Swings. <br /> :- Looped Tricycte path away from the road. <br /> : Functional irrigation system and good drainage. <br /> � Picnic tables in a central location (not too close to the play equipment). <br /> :- Drinking fountain. <br /> � (Future) Restroom location identified. <br /> :- No barbecue. <br /> _ . _ ._ _._. __ ..r <br />
