s <br /> REPUR T <br /> To the Honorabie Mayor and City Councii <br /> From the City Manager <br /> August 14, 2000 <br /> Subject <br /> Upgrading HP-Unix financial server. <br /> Recommendation <br /> That the City Council reject all bids received on July 5, 2000, and authorize the <br /> purchase of the HP L1000 Unix server in the amount of $29,152.65 from Logical, the <br /> lowest bidder when a second rounds of bids were received on July 26, 2000. <br /> Background <br /> The City purchased an HP-Unix server in August 1995. In September 1999, A newer <br /> release of the HP Unix operating system was installed. This upgrade was required in <br /> order to make the system Y2K compliant. However, running the newer Unix software <br /> on the older server has resulted in long delays for the users. <br /> The City Council authorized the purchase of a new HP server on the State of California <br /> contract with HP on April 10, 2000. However, when the order for the new server was . <br /> placed, we were informed that HP no longer had a State contract with HP due to a <br /> negotiation snag. <br /> In response to the City's advertisement for bids, four (4) bidders responded to the City's <br /> request for bids. The four (4) bidders were: <br /> Logical $29,152.65 <br /> World Data Products $32,813.63 <br /> Yegwa Communications $41,954.33 <br /> WordMark $42,944.13 <br /> It is recommended that the City purchase the new HP server from Logical for $29,152.65. <br /> Fiscal Impact <br /> Funds allocated in FY 1999-00 Capital Projects budget in the amount of $29,152.65 are <br /> available for this purchase. � <br /> � -' ' �� <br /> / � <br /> f •'�-� - ��r 4 '. �t-�— <br /> � _ _ 4 � <br /> � George W.
