The Commission understands that the City Council has no control over medical providers
in the City. However, we feel strongly that something must be done to bring the
responsible parties to the table to discuss the impact their business transactions are having
on local residents. We, therefore, ask that a letter be written to our United States Senators
and Representatives. This letter should ask them to take a leadership role by bringing this
situation to the attention of the Federal agency responsible for the administration of
Medicare funds, asking that they contact Sequoia Medical Associates and attempt to
negotiate a settlement that would maintain affordable health care services for Redwood
City Seniors.
Alternative
Council could choose to decline to take any action.
Fiscal Impact
None

I - •
 ,( a`4--VtJ
. , ,
Leo Walsh Pe e .
