REPORT � <br /> To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br /> From the City Manager <br /> August 14, 2000 <br /> Subject <br /> Final Acceptance — 1999-2000 Sewer Main Repiacement Project <br /> Engineering File No. 806-08 <br /> Recommendation <br /> Accept the 1999-2000 Sewer Main Replacement Project, and authorize the release of <br /> bonds and retention. <br /> Background <br /> Every year the City undertakes a sewer replacement program funded by the Capital <br /> Improvement Program Sewer Fund. This program is designed for systematically <br /> replacing sewer collection system main lines, which have a history of service <br /> disruptions due to age, excessive maintenance requirements, and/or capacity <br /> limitations. A priority list is reviewed and updated annually by the Community <br /> Development Services Department - Engineering 8� Construction, to determine the <br /> priority areas to be incfuded in the program each year. This year's program includes <br /> the replacement of 8,000 linear feet of sewermain in the following areas: <br /> ', 1. Maple Street (10" sewermain 4. Manzanita Street (12" sewermain <br /> , from Main Street to EI Camino Real) - from EI Camino to Heller Street — <br /> � Trenchless Technology Trenchless Technology <br /> ', 2. Main Street (10" sewermain from EI 5. Pine Street (6" sewermain from Main <br /> ' Camino Real to Broadway) - Trenchless Street to Heller Street) — Trenchless <br /> Technology Technology <br /> !� 3. Main Street (12" sewermain from <br /> � Broadway to Bradford Street) - Open <br /> !� trench replacement/upgrade <br /> � <br /> On September 27, 1999, the City Council awarded the construction contract for the <br /> 1999-2000 Sewer Main Replacement Project to Saliba Corporation of San Francisco, <br /> California, for the amount of $486,613.64. <br /> The project was designed and inspected by Junior Engineer, Joel Evora, and Associate <br /> Civil Engineer, Phong Du, and was coordinated with staff in the Sewer Section of the <br /> Public Works Services Department. <br /> _. __. _ _�_. . ____ � . _ <br />
