c
REPORT
To the Honorabie Mayor and City Council
From the City Manager
August 14, 2000
Subject
Final Acceptance — Main Library Recarpeting Project
Engineering File No. 803-02
Recommendation
Accept the improvements for the Main Library Recarpeting Project, and authorize the
release of bonds.
Background:
The construction of the Main Library was completed and opened to the public for
service in 1987. The original carpeting held-up to the wear and tear for the past 13
years.
With the constant use, loss of color, and thinning of the carpet fiber, it became
necessary to replace the carpeting, so that the appearance of the Library could be
renewed and brightened up. With the assistance and input from the original Interior
Decorator, the new color scheme coordinated well with the existing interior color
palettes, and have renewed the Library's appearance.
In lieu of wall-to-wall broadloom carpeting, carpet tiles were used that would be easier
to maintain and replace in the future.
The work was completed by Welker Bros. Flooring, Inc,. of Milpitas, California, for the
total amount of $213,200. There were no change orders issued for this project.
Fiscal Impacts
Funds in the amount of $230,000 were allocated in the 1999/2000 Capital Improvement
Program Budget for this project.
'" ,

 o h / oe Patterson Ed Everett
' City ngi eer Manager, Engineering & Construction City Manager
JP/JKL: ss
s/library/reports/lynch/Acceptanance_Main Library Recarpeting
.. __._. _ _ . __
