<br />7. 7 Aj.. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCil OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF FRANCHISE <br />AGREEMENT WITH RCN TELECOM SERVICES OF CALIFORNIA, INC. <br />FOR THE CONSTRUCTION, MAINTENANCE AND OPERATION OF <br />CABLE TELEVISION SYSTEM <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City has previously entered into a Franchise <br /> <br />Agreement for the construction, maintenance and operation of a cable television system <br /> <br />within the jurisdiction of the City of Redwood City; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this Council proposes to enter into an additional Franchise Agreement <br /> <br />for the construction, maintenance and operation of an additional cable television system <br /> <br />within the jurisdiction of the City of Redwood City; and <br />WHEREAS, the term of the proposed Franchise Agreement with RNC Telecom <br /> <br />Services of California, Inc. ("RCN") is for an initial period of eleven (11) years. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE; <br />THE COUNCil OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS <br /> <br />FOllOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. Findings and Determination. The Council of Redwood City hereby <br /> <br />finds and determines that: <br /> <br />1. There will be significant positive impact in the City in having, for the first time, <br /> <br />competitive options available to its residents in the selection of video programming, local <br /> <br />and long distance telephone service, and high-speed Internet access services. <br /> <br />2.
