Progress report on Interim Urgency Ordinances (same as report on 7.7 Ai.). <br /> <br />The motion passed by a majority roll call vote with Council Member Jordan voting no. <br /> <br />REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY MEETING (See Separate Minutes) <br /> <br />8. <br /> <br />BOARDS, COMMISSIONS AND COMMITTEE REPORTS - <br /> <br />A. Senior Health Care Status Update and Request for Council Support; <br /> <br />Leo Walsh, Senior Affairs Commission Member, gave an update on the situation of health <br />care for seniors. He stated the senior community of Redwood City has continued to lose <br />confidence in the entire health care system. He thanked Council for their support in January <br />1999 and expressed frustration and abandonment by Federal elected officials in not <br />establishing leadership. <br /> <br />Betty Moran, President of Senior Affairs Commission, expressed frustration with the <br />situation. <br /> <br />Marie Walsh, Senior Affairs Commission member, explained the Medicare system. <br /> <br />Kathleen Mahany explained Medicare is handled by Kaiser and a surcharge will be assessed <br />in the near future. <br /> <br />M/S Claire/Howard authorized the Mayor to write a letter informing U.S. Government and <br />State officials about certain local medical group's decision, which will impact the seniors <br />of this community.
