~ A"~

recommends implementing a deliberative planning process to address these issues by
initially setting standards for areas where offices are being built under an interim urgency
ordinance which allows for studies leading to a long-term solution.

The significant changes being recommended are for FAR, stricter parking standards and use
permits (for some office). It should be remembered that Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Sunnyvale
Mountain View and San Mateo already have these standards. In these cities, the standards
have not prevented office from being built. The standards instead help assure good design
and appropriate intensity of use.

eborah Nelson
Community Development Director

aw-

Ed Everett
City Manager

DSN:js

Attachments
1.
