<br />4. INVOCATION: <br /> <br />Ray Lunny - Counselor to the Bishop <br />Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints <br /> <br />5. SPECIAL ORDERS OF THE DAY - <br /> <br />i) <br /> <br />Zhuhai Interns; <br /> <br />Mayor Ruskin spoke of the visit to Redwood City and introduced interns Jacky <br />Qiu, Steven Yu, Len Liang and Tom Tang. Mayor Ruskin thanked -all involved, <br />including the host families and mentors at the City and Kaiser Hospital. <br /> <br />Steven Yu gave a thank you to the City and Kaiser. He stated the interns would like <br />to take the ideas, visions and management back to China and apply them to their <br />future jobs. He stated the time has passed quickly, but the friendship has just begun <br />and expressed the hope that everyone is able to visit Zhuhai in the future. <br /> <br />ii) <br /> <br />Proclamations commemorating: <br /> <br />a) Sergeant Kathryn Anderson's efforts in reuniting a child with his father after 8 <br />years; <br /> <br />Mayor Ruskin asked Police Chief Bolanos to join him at the podium and <br />explained the background leading up to the child being separated from his <br />father for 8 years. Sergeant Anderson, on her own time, pursued locating the <br />mother and child that resulted in the reunion of the father with his child and the <br />woman paying for her crimes. Chief Bolanos stated this action speaks highly of <br />the professionalism, dedication and perseverance of Sergeant Anderson. <br /> <br />b) Local Law Enforcement Officers fundraising efforts for Special Olympics: <br /> <br />Sergeant Joe Rodrigues <br />Officer Janine Maycroft <br />Officer Joe O'Gorman <br />Officer Valancy Cook <br />Officer Denise Randall <br /> <br />Mayor Ruskin stated this recognition is to honor the commitment that the <br />Police Department shows not only on the job but also in addition to the <br />regular job. The officers care in many ways and contribute above and beyond <br />their normal work to the well being of the community.
