REPQR T <br /> To the Honorable Mayo� and City Council <br /> From the City Manager <br /> October 16, 2000 <br /> Subject <br /> Water Quality Monitoring Contract <br /> Recommendation <br /> Adopt a resolution approving the contract specifications and authorization to call for bids for <br /> services related to tests for the City's annual water quality monitoring program. <br /> Background <br /> The City is required by State and Federal laws to conduct water quality monitoring tests, to insure <br /> a safe and healthy supply of drinking water to its customers. Also, the City must meet guidelines <br /> . established by the California Regional Water Quality Control Board for monitoring water quality in <br /> the Redwood Shores Lagoons. <br /> The Public Works Services Department has prepared the bidding documents for the provision of <br /> water sample testing for the Year 2000-01. This bid document includes provisions for the option <br /> of extending this contract, at the City's discretion, to inctude Year 2001-2002. <br /> Alternative <br /> There are no reasonable alternatives to performing this work via outside laboratory testing. <br /> Fiscal Impact <br /> Funds in the amount of $42,000 are programmed in the Department's proposed FY 2000-01 and <br /> FY 2001-2002 operating.budget and use of these funds is contingent upon City Council approval <br /> of the formal bid documents and acceptance of the lowest bid. <br /> � <br /> C,� <br /> � <br /> Manuel Rosas � Peter Ingram Ed Everett <br /> Public Works Superintendent Public Works Services Director City Manager <br /> Attachments <br /> 1.
