<br />y. :2 A C) <br /> <br /> <br />er <br /> <br />November 6, 2000 <br /> <br />Subject <br />Final Acceptance - Veterans Memorial Senior Center HV AC Project <br />Engineering File No. 803-02 <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />Accept the improvements for the Veterans Memorial Senior Center HVAC Project, and <br />authorize the release of bonds. <br /> <br />Background: <br />The Veterans memorial Senior Center was built without a Heating, Ventilating, and Air <br />Conditioning (HV AC) system, which for years meant that the building users had to <br />endure the discomfort from the summer heat and the winter cold. <br /> <br />On August 23, 1999, the City Council awarded the contract for the Veterans Memorial <br />Senior Center HV AC Project to H&A Builders, Inc. dba HAS Construction of San Jose, <br />California in the amount of $349,900.00 for the installation of a HV AC system <br />throughout the facility, to cool the facility in the summer, and to warm the facility during <br />the winter. <br /> <br />The work has been completed to the satisfaction of Engineering & Construction. <br /> <br />Fiscal Impacts <br />The work was completed by HAS Construction for the total amount, $355,375.77. The <br />original bid amount was $349,900.00, and there were two (2) change orders ($3,592.00 <br />& $1,883.77) for a total of $5,475.00. The change orders represent 1.56% of the total <br />amount. <br /> <br />These changes include: <br /> <br />Chanae Order No.1 <br />,. Add an additional 6" x 6" Tube Steel <br />Column, in the Mechanical Aoom, for <br />additional structural support. <br /> <br />$3,592.00 <br /> <br />Chanae Order No.2 <br />,. This change order was the result of the <br />necessity to relocate existing utilities, which <br />were in conflict with of the new installation. <br /> <br />$1,883.77 <br /> <br />.-., """T---'--"-T""""'--"'" <br />
