<br />Mayor Ruskin opened the Public Hearing. <br /> <br />Rob Modeste stated he recently moved to the Canyon Road area, is concerned about <br />commercial development, the traffic issue and potential loss of charm in the area. <br /> <br />Walter Zhovrebolf stated his concern of a dangerous element, that being a housing <br />shortage. He cited figures of teachers leaving employment due to housing costs. He also <br />encouraged Council to expedite the approval process and to educate the community in <br />the essential need for work force entry housing. <br /> <br />Forest Elliott expressed his concerns about the Woodside Road widening in regards to <br />Broadway to Bay. He stated that there should not be more development until the traffic <br />issue is resolved. <br /> <br />Steve Howard stated the ordinance provides several standards that are necessary for <br />what we want the community to look like. He further stated that nothing will meet <br />everyone's needs and an appeal committee should be developed. <br /> <br />Jeremy Archdeacon urged adoption and extension of the interim urgency ordinance. He <br />stated that the zoning ordinance crafted in the 1960's is being used to regulate the <br />current trend of commercial and large residential development. He stated the need for 6 <br />months to address the needs from today's point of view. <br /> <br />Susan Keely urged passage of extension of the interim urgency ordinance in order for <br />the community to be in charge of the community. <br /> <br />MIS ClaireIHartnett to close the Public Hearing. The motion passed by a unanimous <br />voice vote. <br /> <br />MIS Hartnett/Claire to take the following action: <br /> <br />i) <br /> <br />Adopt the Progress Report; <br /> <br />ii) <br /> <br />Extend the Interim Urgency Ordinance for a Period of not more than six months <br />(nonextendable); MINUTE ORDER 00-321 <br /> <br />SIX (6) AFFIRMATIVE VOTES REQUIRED <br /> <br />"ORDINANCE NO. 1130- <br /> <br />ORDINANCE EXTENDING INTERIM URGENCY ORDINANCE AMENDING <br />SECTIONS 2.7, AND 2.79 OF, AND ADDING SECTIONS 2.17.5, 2.39, 2.42, <br />2.48.5, 2.49, 2.53.5, 2.55, 2.58.5, 2.68, 2.107, AND 2.107.5 TO ORDINANCE <br />NO. 1130, THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, <br />AS AMENDED RELATING TO VARIOUS DEFINITIONS; AMENDING <br /> <br />REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING <br />MINUTES <br /> <br />OCTOBER 23, 2000 <br />PAGE 7 <br /> <br />T' <br />
