<br />'A-I <br /> <br />REPORT <br /> <br />To the Redevelopment Agency <br /> <br />December 11, 2000 <br /> <br />Subject <br />Funding to San Mateo County Historical Association for Costs Associated with the Historic <br />Courthouse Restoration <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />That the Redevelopment Agency Board by resolution appropriates $15,000 in the 2000- <br />2001 budget and approves an agreement with the San Mateo County Historical <br />Association for the activities listed below. <br /> <br />Background <br />In April 2000, the City Council indicated support for the San Mateo County Facilities Master <br />Plan. This plan included the demolition of the Courthouse annex and the re-creation 'of a <br />park/plaza on the Broadway frontage. <br /> <br />A Committee of people that includes local landowners and business people, as well as <br />representative of both the City and the County governments have been meeting to <br />determine how to proceed with regard to the annex demolition and park/plaza creation 1. <br /> <br />In September 2000, this group recommended the preparation of: <br /> <br />1. An assessment of the current demolition costs and the costs to prepare architectural <br />plans for the restoration. <br />2. A funding strategy for the restoration; and <br />3. A design for the resulting park/plaza that will be created on the Broadway frontage. <br /> <br />Fiscal Impact <br />The $15,000 recommended in this agreement will be supplemented by $5,000 <br />contributions from both John Anagnostou and Nick Watry, two of the group members. The <br />Agency monies will be used to fund one or more of the three items listed above. The San <br />Mateo County Historical Association will administer the funds.
