This study is
intended to provide the transportation base assumptions for the cumulative scenario that
will be prepared for three Environmental Impact Reports. The Pianning Comrmssion
indicated that they want innovative and "outside the box" solutions for transportation
problems in Redwood City, and specifically in the area east of US 101. We have
assembled a team that can provide these types of solutions. The team will be led by James
Daisa, P.E. of Kimley-Hom, and include:

-Bruce Fukuji of Fukuji Planning and Design (FPD), an architect, urban
designer, and land use planner who is well versed in the integration of land use
and transportation and new urban pedestrian and transit-oriented planning
principles. Mr. Fukuji and Mr. Daisa have worked together on numerous projects
for the past 8 years including the Bay Meadows Specific Plan in San Mateo, the
Santa Cruz Master Transportation Study, and the publication: "Creating Livable
Streets: Street Design Guidelines fore 2040".

-Jeffery Tumlin and Doug Languille or Nelson Nygaard Associates (NNA), a
transit and altemative transportation planning firm with a reputation for
innovative solutions. NNA and Mr. Daisa have also worked on numerous projects
together including the Pleasant Hill BART Design Charrette, the Santa Cruz
Master Transportation Study, and the 1-880 Smart Corridor project in Alameda
' County. NNA is also working with the consultants on the three Bay From EIRs.

This is the same team preparing the alternative modes study for the City of Santa Cruz. In
this study, we were directed to think "outside the box" and develop an integrated multi-
modal plan that can dramatically reduce automobile travel in Santa Cruz. Of all of the
possible combinations of transportation planners in the Bay Area, this team brings together
the individuals in the forefront of new urbanist, transit and pedestrian-oriented, and
alternative mode transportation planning.

02/19102

·
TEL 925 463 5640
FAX 925 463 5641
