iREPORT <br /> To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br /> From the City Manager <br /> <br />March 11,2002 <br /> <br />Subject <br />Dates for Budget Consideration <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />It is recommended that the resolution setting the dates for formal action of the budget be <br />adopted. <br /> <br />Background <br />Sections 51 and 51.5 of the Redwood City Charter require that the City Council establish <br />the date of the budget presentation by the City Manager, the dates for budget public <br />hearing, and the budget ordinance adoption. <br /> <br /> Budget Sent to Council: June 20, 2002 <br /> <br /> City Council Budget: Study Session #1 July 22, 2002 <br /> Study Session #2 (if needed) July 29, 2002 <br /> <br /> Budget Introduction to Council and <br /> Budget Public Hearing: August 5, 2002 <br /> <br /> Budget Ordinance Adoption August 12, 2002 <br /> <br />Alternative <br />Although the City Charter requires that the Council, by resolution, establish a date upon <br />which the "...City Manager shall submit to the Council a proposed budget .... "it is <br />nonetheless the Council's prerogative to select the date that they believe is most <br />appropriate.
