Bill Nelson (D-Fla.) intro- <br />duced the IP-Enabled Voice Communications and <br />Public Safety Act of 2005 (5. 1063) which would <br />direct the FCC to prescribe regulations and estab- <br />lish a set of requirements for providers of I P- <br />enabled voice service to ensure that 911 and E- <br />911 services are available to customers to IP- <br />enabled voice service. S. 1063 has been referred <br />to the Senate Commerce Committee and has 4 <br />co-sponsors. <br /> <br />A House companion measure (HR. 2418) with <br />identical language was introduced in the House by <br />Rep. Bart Gordon (D- Tenn.) and has 19 cospon- <br />sors, including California Representatives Eshoo, <br />Lofgren and Schiff.
