..5. zA - / REPORT To the Honorable Mayor and City Council From the tit Mana er July 25, 2005 Subject Final Acceptance - Seaport Centre Block Wall and Sewer Pump Stations Improvement Project Recommendation Accept, by motion, the Seaport Centre Block Wall and Sewer Pump Stations Improvement Project, and authorize the release of bonds and retention. Background On November 22, 2004, the City Council accepted the bids and awarded the contract to Bamer Construction of Castro Valley, California, for the Seaport Centre Block Wall and Sewer Pump Stations Improvement Project, in the amount of $368,975.00. The project involved the rehabilitation and upgrade of the two pump stations at Seaport Centre. The stations are located at Saginaw Drive and at Galveston Drive. The rehabilitation brings both pump stations up to current technologies and industry practices. The ney¡ pumps, pipings, and controls that were installed comply with current City standards, and parts will be interchangeable with other pump stations. A total of tWo Change Orders were issued during the construction of the project: The Change Orders were issued to resolve unforeseen situations, and totaled $4,634.24. The Change Orders brought the final construction cost to $373,609.24 or 1.26% above the original award amount. Alternatives The alternative is to delay acceptance to address any concerns of the City Council. Fiscal Impacts This project is funded by the Seaport Centre Maintenance District Fund, Progress payments have been made to the contractor totaling $336,248,32.
