Page 4 <br /> <br />Commissioner Jones stated that Fair Oaks will have a Halloween party on Oct. 31st. A birthday party is <br />held on the last Friday of each month for those whose birthday falls in that month. Fair Oaks is in need <br />of volunteers for their lunch program. Fair Oaks offers exercise classes, healthy breakfasts and lunches <br />and gardening on Fridays. A shower truck is on site twice a week and available for use by homeless <br />people. She also announced that Peninsula Hills Women’s Club will provide 150 free Thanksgiving meals <br />to seniors on Thanksgiving Day at the Veterans Memorial Senior Center. Reservations can be made by <br />calling the VMSC Lunch Line at 780-7259. <br />Vice Chair Paley stated that Chase the Chill collection bins for handmade scarves are now out. Next <br />month scarves will be hung. She also reported that the new mural was a partnership between the Civic <br />Cultural Commission and CATA, Community Advocacy Through Art, as well as Incredible Edible Gardens, <br />the group responsible for the fruit trees in the park. <br /> <br />Announcements <br />Bruce announced- <br />-Former Senior Affairs Commissioner Billy James will be invited to join the Friends of the Veterans <br />Memorial Senior Center board. <br />-New television monitors have been installed in the VMSC lobby and Wellness building. Upcoming <br />VMSC programs, events, daily schedules as well as downtown events are displayed on them. All <br />Redwood City community centers now have them and show the activities for that site. <br />-San Mateo County Health and the Daily Journal will be hosting Seniors on the Square on Friday, June <br />15, 2018. <br />-Zoppe Circus will be here in the park October 13th- 29th <br />-Halloween Party at the VMSC on Oct.31st at Noon $10 <br />-Veterans Day Pancake Breakfast at VMSC on Thursday, November 9th, 9-11 a.m., $5.00 <br />-Thanksgiving Luncheon at VMSC on Friday, November 17th at Noon, $10.00 <br /> <br />Adjournment <br />The regular meeting of the Senior Affairs Commission was adjourned at 2:12 p.m. The next meeting will <br />be on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Senior Center in Redwood <br />City, California. <br /> <br />
