<br />DES:djk 0?/20/91 (059a/28) <br />DES:djk C 25/91RR <br /> <br />EXHIBIT IIA" <br /> <br />POLICY ESTABLISHING CONTINUATION <br />OF SALARY AND BENEFITS FOR CITY <br />EMPLOYEES CALLED TO ACTIVE MILITARY DUTY <br /> <br />1. Any employee in the competitive service of the City of <br />Redwood City, whether in permanent or probationary status, who <br />has been called into active duty as a result of the Iraq-Kuwait <br />Crisis as a member of the California National Guard or a united <br />States Military Reserve Organization shall receive the following <br />compensation and benefits; provided that if such employee's <br />act.ive military service continues for a period of more t.han six <br />(6) months, continuation of such benefits shall be subject to the <br />approval of the City Council, whose decision shall be final. <br /> <br />b. <br /> <br />a. <br /> <br />For the first thirty (30) days of active military <br />service such employee shall receive full compensation <br />in accordance with the compensation schedule for the <br />position held by such person, which City compensation <br />shall be in addition t.o any compensation which the <br />employee receives from the military service. <br />Thereafter, the City shall pay to said employee the <br />difference between the compensation payable pursuant <br />to said employee's City compensation schedule and the <br />compensation paid to said employee by the military <br />service. <br /> <br />Such employee shall be provided, during the aforesaid <br />six-month period of military service, full benefits in <br />addi t.ion to salary, including vacation accrual, sick <br />leave accrual, compensatory time or payment in lieu of <br />compensatory time, healt.h coverage, dental coverage, <br />and employment credit for retirement benefits, to the <br />extent consistent with, or provided by, current <br />memoranda of understanding or other enactments of, or <br />approved by, the City Council. <br /> <br />2. Reemployment of persons subject to the provisions in <br />this policy shall be governed by provisions of State or Federal <br />law then in effect; provided, however, that nothing in t.his <br />paragraph contained shall be deemed to reduce or affect the <br />provision of additional compensation and benefits pursuant to <br />paragraphs 1 and 2. <br /> <br />3. This policy shall remain in effect for the period <br />commencing December 1, 1990, through May 30, 1991; provided, <br />however, that this policy may be continued in effect for an <br />additional six-month period (through November 30, 1991) by the <br />Council. <br /> <br />..~_....
