At its November 7, 2016 meeting, the City Council continued the item with direction to
continue receiving feedback from the community, focus on nearby neighborhood safety
improvements and to review the design as part of the Citywide Transportation Plan.

Figure 1: Project Area

ANALYSIS
Since the November 2016, staff has:
· Monitored traffic conditions.
· Made minor adjustments and repairs to traffic signals on the corridor.
· Evaluated and received approval to install a new speed hump on Fernside Street
to discourage cut through traffic that may be an unintended consequence of the
pilot project. A construction contract is being reviewed to complete this work, with
construction expected in early 2018.
· Completed a walking audit of the Project corridor with staff from Fehr & Peers,
consultants for the Citywide Transportation Plan.
The Citywide Transportation Plan is ongoing, therefore, staff recommends continuing
the pilot for another year to allow time to complete the Plan and to potentially refine the
current design, if directed by Council. Two potential projects to increase safety at the
intersections of Farm Hill Boulevard and Eden Bower Lane and Emerald Hill Road were
developed from the walking audit and are included in the Draft Citywide Transportation
6.1.C. - Page 2
