Tree Preservation and Sidewalk Repair Program
Council Member Bain requested that in the future there be more background on
record of service and whether any complaints have been filed on the contractor.
He stated his desire to revisit the tree maintenance and sidewalk repair program
and was glad to see information on the rubberized sidewalk. He encouraged the
Council and City Manager to have it come back on a future agenda.
Vice Mayor Pierce stated that there is a conflict in values between smooth
sidewalks and preservation of trees making rubberized sidewalks allowing to
have sidewalks coming up with tree roots without so much pruning. Concern
about the root trimming expressed by some of the neighborhoods is being
addressed going forward in the tree maintenance policy.
Mayor Ira stated that a task force would be implemented to study this topic as
there are competing values in the community.
JOINT MEETING MINUTES JULY 25, 2005
CITY COUNCIL AND REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY PAGE 7
MINUTE ORDER BOOK NO. 60
Page No. 541
