T. Gallagher, secretary of the Probation Comm¡ttee of <br />San Mateo County, commending the City Council upon the playground <br />and recreational development. in Redwood City, was read and ordered <br />field. Also a letter from Mr. V. G. Ryan thank_ing the ~ Recreation <br />Department and especially Messrs. De M. Armond and Morton for. co_urt- <br /> <br />- - <br /> <br />esies extended him and his group-on October 12, was read and order- <br />ed fie1ed. <br /> <br />- . <br /> <br />Chairman Millington announce~ that he had named the foll- <br />owing committee to make a study of avai1aba1e, sites and cost of sites <br />in connection with the recreation center proposed by the Lions Club: <br />Andrèw Spinas, Chairman <br />K. W. Van Gundy <br />Mrs. L. A. MCAtee <br /> <br />Chairman Millington appointed the following committee to <br />investigate further the possibilities of acquiring a suitable site <br />for the Five Points Playground: <br />Donald Bogie, Chairman <br />Roger Walsh <br />Alfred Morton. <br /> <br />The matter of the ordinance mentioned at the-previous-- <br />meeting by Mr. Millington was postponed until the following meeting. <br /> <br />Chairman Millington announced the attendance of Mr. Morton <br />and himself at the City Council meeting. on. November 2 to propose <br />that the Park and Recreation Advisory Committee sponsor the dedica- <br />tion of the new city hall and library buildings, which are scheduled <br />to be completed on or about May 14, 1939. This proposal met with <br />the favor of the Council and the Advisory Board will hold the ded- <br />ication services. <br /> <br />Recreation Director Morton announced that the pistol and <br />rifle range would be dedicated by Mayor Christensen on Sunday, Nov- <br />ember 13, 1938. <br /> <br />- . <br /> <br />Mr. Morton stated that the Sequoia night adult orchestra <br /> <br />- . - ~ '\ <br /> <br />haa adopted the name IIWest Bay Orchestrall which is quite similar <br />to the name chosen by ,the W. P. A. symphony orchestra which held <br /> <br />- '- <br /> <br />concerts during ~he. summer montþs using the name .IIWest Bay Ensemble". <br />The W.R.A.- gr9uP. is to be disco~tinued ~or the winter, but will re- <br />sume its activitie~ next spring and wishes to continue under the <br />same name. ~. Morton s~gg~sted that a letter be wr i tten to Max <br /> <br />Gelber I who organized the night- school group, informing him that <br />the W.P.A. symphony orchestra is planning to resume its activities <br />next year under the name of IIWest Bay Ensemble.
