CHAPTER 41 PLACE -MAKING <br />GOAL <br />• Provide publicly accessible art along the Corridor, to support economic development and improve the <br />quality of life. <br />STRATEGIES <br />4D Extend the citywide utility box mural program, di- <br />recting new utility box murals to El Camino Real. <br />4E Continue the citywide sidewalk and shadow art <br />program, directing new installations onto El Cami- <br />no Real. <br />4F Install new art along the Corridor, and in particular <br />in Activity Centers, that encourages passersby to <br />stop and engage with the artwork. Artwork that is <br />kinetic, interactive, and encourages interaction and <br />lingering is particularly encouraged. <br />4G Incorporate bright and engaging public art into the <br />Woodside Road underpass, placing a special em- <br />phasis on enhanced lighting. (See also strategies <br />related to the underpass in Section 1.1, Walking.) <br />4H Create a specific public art strategy for El Camino <br />Real as part of the Public Art Master Plan currently <br />under development. <br />41 Direct funds put towards public art through com- <br />munity benefits (through the Percent for Art fee) to <br />public art projects located on the El Camino Real <br />Corridor. <br />U <br />i <br />13 <br />
