In years to come the grammar schools will have need of
a Physical Education Supervisor, and Kenneth Van Gundy suggested
that this matter be set aside,tó be reconsidered at a future time.

Mr. Spinas and Mr. MOr~on will meet sometime before the
next meeting to discuss a-plan wherebý a closer tie between the
schools and the Recreation Department may be-formed. Mr. Spinas
will attend the next meeting.

"---'

Mr. Morton suggested in his report an all year dancing
class to-be held two days a week. A-dancing class had been held
during the summer months of the past year and had proven very
successful. All were very much in favor of this, and Mrs. McAfee
moved that the Commission recommend to the City Council that all-
owance be made in the budget for the 'Recreation Department for the
cost of an all year dancing class. The motion was seconded by Mr.
Van Gundy, and carried unanimously.

In"regard to the Cross Country Run, the Marathon Raçe,
and the Harbor Swim, suggested by Mr. Morton and discussed at
the previous meeting, Mr. Dimmitt explained that the City had
an advertising fund which was handled through the recommendation
of the Chamber of Commerce, and he felt that the securing of
trophies and the other necessary expenses in connection with the
above mentioned activities could ~ightfully be pres~nted to the
Chamber of Commerce for its recommendation to the City Council.
Chairman Millington and Mr. MOrton-agreed to discuss-the mat~er
with Mr. Roscoe D. Wyatt, Secretary of the Chamber of Commerce.

Another contemplated event in Mr. MOrton's report was
a-May Day-Festival for the school children of this community~
Chairman Millington asked Mr. Morton to present the estimated~
costs of this Festival at the next meeting. Mr. Spinas proferred
that the School might see its way clear to take care of the neces-
sary expenses, as he-felt they ,would be very nominal.

Discussion of the remaining suggested items in Director
Morton's report was put over until the next meeting.

The- meeting adjourned at 9:00 P.M.

----.... /

Mildred J.
