RESOLUTION NO. 15632 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />REDWOOD CITY APPROVING THE EL CAMINO REAL CORRIDOR <br />PLAN <br />WHEREAS, the proposed EI Camino Real Corridor Plan ("Corridor Plan") is a <br />policy document that provides a comprehensive land use, transportation, and streetscape <br />approach consistent with the General Plan's principles. The Plan includes visions, goals, <br />strategies, and implementation actions and is organized into four main topics, as briefly <br />described below; and <br />1. Mobility addresses the various ways people travel around the Corridor <br />2. Economic Vitality addresses ways to support existing Corridor businesses <br />3. Housing addresses ways to provide housing for a range of income levels, support <br />existing neighborhoods, and improve services for residents <br />4. Place -Making addresses ways to improve the Corridor's aesthetics and identity <br />WHEREAS, on January 1, 2016, the City Council held a public hearing and <br />directed staff to initiate the Corridor Plan, including establishing a Citizen's Advisory <br />Group and expanding the project scope to include additional community outreach and <br />transportation analysis; and <br />WHEREAS, on March 21, 2017, the Planning Commission held a public hearing <br />to obtain a progress update on the Corridor Plan, including the progress, concepts, <br />options, and themes. The Planning Commission was supportive of the progress made <br />and provided feedback for the plan development; and <br />WHEREAS, on November 7, 2017, the Planning Commission held a public <br />hearing on the proposed Corridor Plan. The Commission was supportive of the Corridor <br />Plan as proposed with the addition of the Citizens Advisory Group's goals. Individual <br />Commissioners suggested additional strategies could include sidewalk width <br />improvements in sections where it is unsafe and ways to better amass parks. The <br />Commission recommended that the Council adopt the Corridor Plan; and <br />WHEREAS, on December 4, 2017, the City Council held a public hearing on the <br />proposed Corridor Plan; and <br />WHEARAS, a notice of public hearing on the Corridor Plan was duly published in <br />the San Mateo Daily Journal newspaper, and posted on the City's website and on the City <br />Hall bulletin board 10 days prior to the public hearing; and <br />WHEREAS, at the public hearing, the City Council considered the whole of the <br />record. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF REDWOOD CITY AS FOLLOWS: <br />ATTY/RES0.106/CC RESO APPROVING THE EL CAM [NO REAL CORRIDOR PLAN RESO.
