He stated that at the present time only a mini- <br />mum of work i~ being done, and it is imperative that we <br />have more help to keep the facilities in satisfactory <br />condition. MSC by Commissioners Gold and Poole that a <br />letter be sent to the City Council requesting that part- <br />time people be made available from other departments to do <br />this work. Secretary Gold was instructed to ~1te this <br />letter. <br /> <br />The matter of the bridge at Community Park was brought <br />up by the Chatrman. It was decided that due to the lack of <br />funds, any action will have to be postponed until the next <br />budget is prepared. <br /> <br />Recreation Director Alfred I.ortòn~}reported that ne- <br />gotiations are still in progress for the use of the local <br />Armory for recreation purposed. The armory will require <br />us to p~ ~S ~r evening for custodiM fees. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Mr. Olson reported that the Comfort Station at Stafford <br />Park is nearly completed. There was some concern on the part <br />of the Commissioners that neither the Park and Recreation <br />Crommission nor the Recreation Director and Park Superintendant <br />were consulted in the planning of this building. In the <br />future, the Commission will made an effort to investigate <br />these matters, and it is hoped that the Cooocll will take <br />advantage of its opportunity to utilize the professional <br />counsel available in the Park and Recreation Commission. <br />Commissioner Spinas suggested that the back of the comfort <br />station be fenced and that the buildin~ be locked at a <br />particular hour each evening. <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS: <br /> <br />. ""'11- - <br /> <br />MSC that the meetings of the Park and Recreation <br />Commission will henseforth be held on the first Tuesday of <br />each month. It was suggested that the C~1ss1on rec~mend <br />to the ~lty Co~ci1 that theCo~ci1 ~mbers be made <br />available for the Park and Recreation Commission on that <br />night. <br /> <br />MSC that the softball diamond at Hawes Park be skinned. <br />The problem of its maintenance was postponed until the Park <br />Superintendant can be consulted. <br /> <br />MSC by Jack Poole that a letter be written to the Real <br />Estate Committee of the City Council recommending that the' <br />area 45' X 150' adjoining and west of the Recreation Center, <br />facing Roosevelt Avenue be purchased by the city for <br />recreation purposes.
