The motion also included that a new bridge <br />be built across the creek at the end of Nevada Street to be <br />used as a foot bridge and also for city equipment. The <br />specified size would be four feet for the pedestrian traffic <br />and seven feet for the city equipment. The necessary material <br />for building this bridge is now on hand at the Park Depart- <br />ment's Yard. <br /> <br />Comfort Station at Stafford Park--It was reported by <br />Supt. Pasco Balzarini that $~,OOO.OO has been set up in the <br />1951-52 budget to have these facilities built. <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS: <br /> <br />Ll ~ --- .. --¡q v- ~ I'MIo.. <br /> <br />MSC by Commissioners Gold and Bogie that a request be <br />made to the City Manager to place an order for the bleachers <br />for the Swimming pool as soon as they receive approval from <br />the City Council that this item will be included in the <br />1951-52 Budget. - <br /> <br />After considerable discussion about the deplorab~e <br />conditions existing at the Redwood City Yacht Harbor it <br />was MSC by the Commissioners Bogie and Robb recommending <br />that the Redwood City Yacht Harbor be transferred to the <br />Engineering Department. At the present time the Recreation <br />Department has to solicit the help of the Engineering <br />Department to have necessary work done at the'area; such <br />as grading roads and maintaining the cat walk, ~-,',etc. Be- <br />cause the Street Department which operates under the ßngineering <br />Department has the nec6sarry help and equipment to do these <br />jobs it was the feeling of the Commission that the Public <br />Work Officer shmu1d have the Yacht Harbor under his juris- <br />diction and relieve the Recreation Director of these duties <br />in order that he may give more time to the recreation program. <br /> <br />MSC by Cammissioner Poole and Gold that due to the deplor- <br />able conditions of some of the Park facilities, the Park <br />Department be allowed to hire two full time men instead of <br />f_ive part time men which are set up in the present budget. <br />It has been found that it is almost impossible to hire <br />competent part time men to fill the part time positions. <br /> <br />MSC by Commissioners Gold and Stout that a letter be sent <br />to the City Manager asking him to give his consideration in <br />having the Park Department cooperate with the Recreation De. <br />partment in allowing one of their men to do the necessary <br />maintaining of the pumps and backwashing of'the filters at <br />the swimming pool. It was recommended that the prevailing <br />rate of pay be allowed to the man employed to do this. <br /> <br />Recreation Director Alfred Morton stated that the City <br />Manager has cooperated thus far in allowing a man from the <br />Sewer Disposal Plant to do this work and he is doing a fine <br />job when he can be on the areal but due to the shift he <br /> <br />,...
