*:ctut Proper use and care of all tools, equipment and supplies used in the maintenance and repair of water meters; Water metering and billing procedures of the City; Procedures for maintaining records of work activity, equipment, usage and other data pertaining to water service work. Principles and practices of customer service Safe work practices related to field and office work Ability to: Organize and implement day-to-day work activities. Inspect, clean, install, remove and perform repairs on water meters and backflow devices; Explain policies and procedures related to water service and billing to customers;; Receive and address water customer complaints and check meter functioning to resolve such complaints; and Maintain records and make oral and written reports on water service work activity, backflow device testing, and customer problems. Operate a motor vehicle and standard office equipment Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Provide training and technical guidance to less experienced personnel. Establish and maintain harmonious work relationships with those contacted in the course of work EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Education: Equivalent to the completion of the 12th grade, with supplemental courses or training in mechanical maintenance, plumbing, hydrology or a related field. Experience: Equivalent to two years as a Water Resources Technician/ or Consumer Services Technician in the City of Redwood City Required Licenses or Certificates: • Possession of a valid California Driver's license Possession of an AWWA Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester Certificate and tri - annual recertification within 12 months of hire.
