The generation
rate is established by the message model and the interarrival times
are drawn from a Poissan distribution. _

(2) Terminai Channel Access-The logic involved in this block
accounts for the Slatted Digital Sense Multiple Access scheme
described above. This block also waits for acknowledgment from
the RNC indicating that the message was received and forwarded.
to the application server. This block can account for messages not
being received at the RNC,in which case a retransmission is
initiated. Finally, this block can account for the collisions that
occur when two Mobile Data Terminals transmit at the same time _
and the random time interval that is initiated before retransmission.
(3) Inbound Channel Facility-'I'he inbound channel is modeled as
a facility that can be used by the message transactions. This
faeility is"flagged"as busy for the duration of an inbound message
in accordance with SDSMA. Additionally, the message
transmissions are corrupted based on theF propagation
parameters used in the calculation ofthe coverage maps.
(4) RNC Holding Pen and RF InPut Queue- Tllese two blocks
model the RNC's holding pen and queue for transmissions received
from the RF channel_ In a multi-site system such as this, the RNC

QMOTOROLA • 3 '6
. _. _ _ __ _. __ . _
