<br />130 <br /> <br />Mr. Werder presented a verbal report of progress on the Spring <br />Festival. A lengthy discus~ion followed, in which Mr. Morton sugg- <br />ested that there has been no center of responsibility and consequent- <br />ly a considerable duplication of effort. He suggested that Mr. Mill- <br />ington was the logical man to head a central committee. He 'also sugg- <br />ested that this central commdttee appoint sUb-committee to handle <br />single events, such as the pet show, parade, police pistol shoot, etc. <br /> <br /> <br />. ' <br /> <br />MSC that a commi'ttee composed of Mr. Spinas, chairman; Mr. Bog- <br />ie and Mr. Werder-handle the entire Spring Festival, and that they <br /> <br />I .. <br />feel free to ask any members of the Comm1ttee for ass1stance. <br /> <br />The secretary was directed to write Mr. Spinas a letter inform- <br />ing him of his appointment as commit'tee chairman and to notify him <br />that his committee will have full power to make arrangements without <br />consulting a higher authority. <br /> <br />UNFINISHED BUSINESS: <br /> <br />MSC that the chairman write a letter to the city council asking <br />a showdown on the Five Points Playground matter, and asking an ex- <br />pression by the council on the exact status of the Committee in city <br />government. <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS: <br /> <br />Mr. Werder and Mr. Peterson were directed to contact Mr. Mill- <br />ington on the plan to make the Committee an official city commission <br />with power to administrate its own budget, following a suggestion by <br />Mr. Van G,undy. <br /> <br />The secretary was directed to notify members by postal card of <br />a special meeting February 23 at 7:30 p.m. in the city hall. <br /> <br />The meeting was adjourned at 9 p.m. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />REDWOOD CITY PARKS & RECREATION ADVISORY COMMÅ’TTEE <br /> <br />Special Meeting, Feb. 23, 1939. <br /> <br />The meeting was called. to order' at 8 p.m. by Secretary Pet- <br />erson.
