<br />58 <br /> <br />He spoke briefly in acceptance. <br /> <br />PERSONAL APPEARANCES: <br /> <br />The Junior Council was introduced by Mr. Morton, and Mr. <br />Morton gave a br ief explanation of the group' s acti vi ties dur i'ng <br />Boys' Week. <br /> <br />COMMUNI CA TI ONS : <br /> <br />( <br /> <br />From Miss Stiles, expressing her regret at having been ill <br />and unable to attend meetings, and offering her resignation if <br />the board should see fit to appoint a member in her place. The <br />offer of resignation was rejected. The secretary was instructed <br />to write ~ss Stiles a letter informi~ her ~e co~ssion is <br />looking forward to her rapid recovery and retUrn to the commission. <br /> <br />UNFINISHED BUSINESS: <br /> <br />Mr. Morton recommended that the pistol range be turned over <br />to the police department, and that the archery range be retained <br />at Hawes Park, but in a different position to eliminate hazards. <br />Following a suggestion by the city manager that such action be <br />taken, the commission voted to turn over the pistol range to <br />Chief .C. L. Collins, of the police department, and that Mr. MOrton <br />alter the position of the archery range as he thought best. The <br />secre tary was instructed to notify the police department of <br />the action. <br /> <br />Mr. Morton expressed the belief that the recreation center <br />site should not be developed as it might be sold at any time as <br />industrial property. Extensive discussion followed. <br /> <br />MSC that a committee be appointed to meet with the Recreation <br />Fund Committee to discuss the matter. Chairman Millington appoint- <br />.ed Mr. Hagan and Mr., Peterson to meet with RFC. <br /> <br />City Manager Dimmitt'said the matter of the Stanford Boat <br />Club and installation of crew racing facilities at the yacht har- <br />bor was being taken care of between him and Mr. Ted Cole 6£ Stan- <br />ford University. <br /> <br />Respectfully submitted, <br /> <br />M~'~~~ ~ n~~~~~~~ <br /> <br />~ ..... .-...... _.a.. -....... <br />
