Park and Recreation Commission Meeting Minutes: The Parks and Recreation Commission meeting was convened at the City Hall at 8:'10 p.m., December 17, 1940. Those present were: Andrew Spinas, Chairman,' Fred Vanderborden, Loui Be Stiles, Wayne Millington and James Hagan. v Since the secretary was unable to attend the meeting the read- ing of the minutes and communications was dispensed wi~h. ~ : Mr. Bogie, Chairman of the committee to survey the present recreation centers and the suggested areas, sent to Mr. Spinas, - - his report, "progress"'. Personal appearances: - . ~. C~e~ asked that action on the proposed site of Butcher Field be taken- at once. He felt that if enthusiasm is cult- ivated among the people of Redwood City that it will be poss- - - ib1e to raise the $55,000. He suggested that if the City made an offer to the Southern Pacific Railroad the property might be obtained for less. He reported that the Commuters are in favor of everything the Commission listed at the last meeting. ~l. He asked the purpose of the Parks and Recreation Commission to which Mr. Millington answered, lIadvisory capacity only". Mr. Hoffman såid the Southern .' . . " Mr. Hagan made the motion and Mr. Vanderborden seconded the motion that a special meeting of the Commission be called for further discussion, 7:30 p.m. at the City Hall on December 20, 1940.
