<br /> <br />R~~OD CITY PüKS 00 RECREATION CO~ISSION <br /> <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Regu1ár Meeting - March 24,1942. <br /> <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order ~ Chairman Bogie. <br /> <br />The miootes of the re~lar meeting of February 24th. <br />were read and approved. present were: Co~1ssioners Bogie, <br />Brits~hgi, Case, Spinas, Alberson, Eva and Stiles. <br /> <br />COMMUNICATIONS: None. <br /> <br />PERSONAL APPEARANCES: None. <br /> <br />OLD BUSINESS: <br /> <br />Director Morton again expressed the need for a <br />horseshoe rofidr'at the Yacht Harbor. He said if the present <br />city dump could be moved, the, clean dumps or street sweep- <br />ings 'could be used as fill. <br /> <br />Co~issloner &itschgi suggested the necessity of <br />seeing the R.R. regarding the ,crossing of the tracks. . <br />. 1m <br />~: to ~e a rec~ffidatl00 to t~ Cl~ C~cl1 <br />to make application to the Southern Pacific for'right of <br />way for crossing into Yacht Harbor at northernly end of <br />30 acre tract known as yacht harbor. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />, .'. <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS: <br /> <br />Director Morton reported that Chestnut play areA, <br />he.s been open two weeks and that the twilight softball <br />league will be brought back in ,April. Gar~8.ge trucks <br />are hauling tanbark to Fleishman playground. - <br /> <br />In case, of a blackout the playgrounds should be <br />notified on the yellow. Since there are no phones near <br />Fleishmans, that play area could be notified, by the cops <br />a.t the center at Washing.ton School. ~, <br /> <br />Park Commissioner Walsh reported, 'thAt ~he grass <br />is being cut at Fleishmans and that the Redwood City Bowl <br />is in good condition with very light growth of weeds. <br />Need for a little work on the road. <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br /> <br />Chairman Bogie submitted a plan using the old <br />manual arts building in back of Central School, moving it <br />to California Square and remodeling with offices for Recreation, <br />Boy and Girl Scouts, and the YMCA, lockers, auditorium with <br />a stage on the firs t floor j rooms, for meetings on second floor. <br /> <br />MSC that the Commission go on record as favoring <br />the acquisition of the old manual arts building from the <br />RedwQod City elementary school district to be moved to <br />California Square for use as a community center, and that <br />the Comm~ssion appear before the City Council on April 20th. <br /> <br /> <br />~ <br />
