<br /> <br />1~ <br /> <br />REDWOOD CITY PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> <br />Regular Meeting November 28, 1950 <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 7:41 by Vice Chatman, <br />Willi~m Hanley,~Mrs. Anna Bennett Robb, Jack Poole, Donald <br />Bogie, Clement Baume, H. s. stout, Pasco Balzarini, Alfred Morton. <br /> <br />Absent were Chairman, Ralph Case and Andrew Spinas due to <br />School Bond Election Meeting and Ray Weymouth. <br /> <br />The minutes of the regular meeting of October 24th were <br />aoproved as mailed. <br /> <br />. ... <br /> <br />PERSO'NAL APPEARANCES: Mr. Tom Hane¡r speaking on the new swimming <br />pool at the request of Mr. William Hanley. <br /> <br />REPORT OF CœNITTEES: <br /> <br />Commissioner William Hanley introduced Thomas Haney, Swimming <br />Coach of Stanford University Who gave an outline on the maintaining <br />and operating points of a swimming pool. <br />Mr. Haney who had m.et wi th a group of the commissioners at a <br />previous meeting gave the following outline. <br />The, Redwood City Swimming Pool should have one pool manager who <br />should receive a. salary of ~300.00 per month. Mr. Haney stated that <br />in order to get a competent person Who knows all the ins and outs <br />about the maintaining and operating of a pool thst you will h~ve to <br />g i v e s u c 11 a m an age rag 0 0 d S 8 1 a r y . H est B. t e d t hat the P 0 0 1 1_~ an age r <br />should be responsible and supervise all aspects of the pool, such as <br />classes, collections of and the depositil"lg of money to the pro'per <br />authorities, help clean pool, assist in life guarding of pool, be <br />in charge of the water, fj 1 ters, chlori.ne, promoti on of teams of <br />children and adult s a ."'ld instruct in clS,s se s of beginnin.rš swim-m.ing. <br />He should be on the job at 9:4.5 and stay until the pool closes. <br />The pool should also have two life guards either male or female. <br />Haney ~tressed the point that male life guards were preferred as <br />they will do a better job. One life guard should report to work <br />at 10:00 and quit at 5:00 while the other reports to work at 9:00 <br />and qu.i ts at 5: 30. The life guard who reports for duty on the <br />early shift should hose down pool deck, help vaCQ~ the pool, brush <br />pool, clean tile when needed, supervise people in swi~~ing. One <br />life gllard should be on duty at the large :pool and another on duty <br />at the smallest pool. On Holidays, Haney, said, there will be a <br />need for three life guards. <br /> <br />A Janitor will be neede(l at the 'pool to cles..n up locker rooms, <br />bas k e t r 0 orr.. , c 1 e a11 win d 0 w s an d see th f) t I B. This person should reDort to \vorl{ at 10: 00 and, <br />quit at 5:30. This person could be either a male or femAle and <br />should be capable of doing J_ife guArd duties wh,en necessary. <br />
