P::'

-~'
, -.
t,
~'.' ',,'

24~

" '

Cómmissioner Stout gave a report on the "tot areas" on school
grounds. He read a report of the equipment available in the parks and
promised more information at a future'meeting.

There was much discussion and dissatisfaction on the part of the.
Recreation and Park CGmmission due to the fact that they had not been
notified by the City Council as to attending the budget hearings on
the budgets for both the ~ark and Recreation departments. Chairman
Hanley stated that we gave the council reports as called for by our
by-laws and he felt the council should have given us the courtesy of
an invitation to these hearings.

. -

MSC by Commissioner Stout and Campbell that a letter be sent
to the City Council that budgets had been submitted to them and if
there were any alleviations or deletions to them our budget committee
should be notified and not have to find out the decisions in the local
paper. We would also appreciate a statement from the Council that in
the future the Commission would be informed about similar actions.

Commissioner Campbell informed the Commission that she had been
asked why boys were not allowed to play hardball on Stafford Park.
It was explained that Community Park and HcKinley School had diamonds
t and facilities for hard ball. Stafford Park is too small and \here is
toom much chance of breaking windows, damaging property, and the
danger of children running into the streets to retrieve balls.

Chairman Hanley appointed two new co~lttees, a Park Co~lttee
to be headed by Commissioner Hector with the aid of Commissioner Bogie
and a Recreation Committee, headed b:y Commissioner Stout with the aid
of Commissioner Gold.

Park Superintendent Balzarini reported that the Archery Club
was not keeping their promise to paint the "building" furnished them
to keep their targets in. Mr. Morton is to look into the matter and
find out why the Archery Club has not complied.

Respectfully submitted,
I
~. ~

IrV~Old, Se'cretary

",
<}:

t

A',
,
i,
"
i

'.

.'
" ,
,>, '
~"

"
~
~ji

,~' ,
,
;"Þ':

./:
"r,', '
/r/'
~t; ,
t,/ .
~ }'
