Commissioner Hector felt <br />that this matter should be presented to the City Council Committee <br />on Recreation. <br /> <br />CONrn~ISSIONER GOLD reporteà that the City Council approved the expenditure <br />of $500.00 for the purchase of a portion of land At the Redwood City <br />Yacht Harbor and will await the recomm¿ndation of the Real Estate <br />Committee. <br /> <br />CO}'1~¡fI SSI 01~ER Hi-\~\1LEY reported tha t he he~d nothing to report on the 'I1aft <br />School Area. <br /> <br />MSC by Commissioners Stout and Gold that the Sec,~r1etary wri te a letter to <br />the City Manager relative to the detailed map of the Park and <br />Recreation areas requested several months RgO. <br /> <br />CHAIRMAN STOUT reported on the trophy awarded to the Recreation Department <br />by the Stars of Tomorrow which they won representing Redwood City <br />in the St. Patricks Day Parade in San Francisco. <br /> <br />CHAIR~t~A:tJ srrOUT a11pointed the following committee s: <br /> <br />Commissioners Hector, Case and Campbel'l to the Park Department <br />Commissioners Gold, Hanley and Brennan to the Recreation Department <br />Commission_er Campbell to be in charge of publici ty <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER HECTOR brought up the pay ceiling of Park Supt. Belzarini and <br />stated that he was the lowest paid department head in the city <br />government. He stated that as \"lell 8.S being in charge of park <br />maintenance. tree trimmin~ program, spraying of trees, removal.of <br />dangeroús trees, He is.in cljarge 9f bú~ld1ng and groûnds w~tijtn tije <br />c~ty, ce'ntraì ljeati.ng plant at tije Cl1ty :Öal~, -janf)tordJa¡ servIDces <br />and the school turfing program, and has been given additional duties <br />of weed abatement. He felt that Balzarini should be given some <br />consideration under the new job description. <br /> <br />~1SC by Commissicner Stout and Hanley that a letter be sent to the Personne <br />Board recommending that the Park SU})t. be granted the same salary <br />scale as is being paid in other cities of this size. <br /> <br />COM}~ISSIONER GOLD brought up- the question to Recreation Director Alfred <br />Morton about his salary scale. Chairman Stout stated that he would <br />appoint Commissioner Gold to study the Recreation Directors pay <br />scale. <br /> <br />RECliEATIOII DIRECTOR Alfred Morton stated that there was not sufficient tim <br />for this to be done that he would be satisfied to hear the resulös <br />of the Kruger representative, b11t suggested that in 'the future <br />the Commission should consider both departments and not single <br />out one r..epartment when recornmending salary surveys. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER CASE reported on the Testimonial Dinner to be held for <br />forIner Commissioner Andrew Spines at ReInA.r Oaks on }4ìriday, May 29th. <br />CorrLYTlissioner Hanley stated that if sufficient funds were not forth- <br />coming for the purchase of a gift for Mr. Spinas that we should all <br />es-:g:is t in making u,tJ the dafi ci t. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />295 <br />
