M. by Chai~an Stout. Those present <br />v/ere Commissioners Catherine Brennan, Elouise Campbell, I.rvj,ng Gold, <br />Fred Hector; superintendent of parks Pasco Balzarini and Superin- <br />tendent of Recreation Alfreå Morton. Commissioner Ralph Case was <br />noted absent. <br /> <br />COMMUNICATIOrl FRO~~ THE CIT~{ COUNCIL reaò~ citing Assistant District <br />Attorney Lebsack's opinion regarding the legality of building a Boy <br />Scout club house on Community Park land. Mr. Lebsack's opinion W~s <br />that a non-exclusive lease was possible. Motion, seconded, and <br />c8.rried by Commissioners Gold and Hector that the Commission go on <br />record as being against assigning any portion of Community Park to <br />the use of any single organization. <br /> <br />"G" STR}i~ET PARlC PROBLErvl. On this subject Commissioner Hector informed the <br />CoT~ission that arrangements had been made for a meet~ng of represen- <br />tatives of the group favoring the park and those against same with <br />representatives of the Cocrmission. Said meeting was to be held at <br />7:30 P. M. Wednesday, August 12. <br /> <br />COM~¡iISSIOílER CM!PBELL reported on meeting with Mr. Schutz of the <br />.Redwood City Tribune on the subject of publicity. Meetings <br />of the Commission are now being added to the City Calendar of <br />Events in the paper. <br /> <br />\VESTVVOOD AND BRIARFIELD PARK DEVELOPM.ENT. Commissioner Gold <br />reported the rough and finish grading completed. Superintendent <br />of Parks Balzarini repor~ed progress on bank stabilization and <br />preparation of site for play equipment. Superintendent of <br />Recreation Morton reported that procurement of play equipment <br />would follow promptly. Discussion on dedication followed. <br />Saturday, August 22, was tentatively agreed upon. Motion, <br />seconded, and carried by Commissioners Campbell and Brennan <br />that the Secretary write a letter to the Council reproposed <br />dedication with their concurrence, the Secretary to obtain the <br />concurrence of the Westwood Terrace Improvement Club previous <br />to forwarding the letter to the Council. <br /> <br />LITTLE BASEBALL LEAGUE. Chairman Stout inquired of the Commission <br />and Superintendent of Recreation Morton their reaction to a <br />"Little Baseball Lea~en similar to leagues all over the nation. <br />~Tr. Th1orton stated that u~ual league teams of thi s type had a <br />backer. Too few children nre involved for the money expended <br />to justif~ City funds he stated. Mr. Morton further cited the <br />existing 'Junior League It and "Senior League" hardball games <br />which are serving a larger group. <br /> <br />TEEN-AGE A,CTIVITIES.
