-2-

21

COt,11QITTEE REPORT ON "G" STREET SITE - Commissioners Fred Hector J Ir"ing
Gold and Elouise Campbell met at this area with representatives of
the groups for and against the purchasing of. this site for a park and
after covering the area thoroly, - recommend that we do not purchase
this property at this time for the following reasons:

1.

The creek would. have to be widened t'or flo'od control as this
area was flooded badly during the h.eavy rai~ls a couple years ago

The property has but one entrance and no parking space which
would mean that cars would have to be parked in front of homes.

2.

Fence would have to be put up along the creek. .

3.
4.

These small areas do not justify constant supervision and the
city could not be held responsible in case of vandalism, espe-
cially where this property is so far away from the beaten path.

5.

We feel that we have several other small areas for parks which
are not properly completed and should give them priority.

THE MASSACHUSETTS - HAMPTON - ~.~ADD'UX PARK SITE - Chairman Stout reported
that he had Rttended the last council meeting and heard the report,
that purchRse had been made of lot 13. There evidently was no officia
action taken by council with respect to additional acreage as outline
in our letter to the Council of April 19th. Chairman Stout stated
that he would attend the next Council Meeting and inquire into the
statu~ of the progress made in this park site.

STULSAFTPARK - Co~missioner Fred Hector advised that he had sent a letter
to the Planning Commission attaching R copy of the Survey Map of
Stulsaft Park. He pointed out to them the need for a relatively flat
area to provide parking space and play Rrea for picnickers. Mud Lake
is included in the belief that it can be made a feature with a rather
small investment.

RESIGNATION - Commissioner Fred Hector informed us that he ,had sent a let-
ter of resignation to the City Council as he was leaving Redwood City.
At this time, Commissioner Hector expressed his thanks to all members
of this Cornmission for the co-opera.tion the:)T have given ~lim and ho\'i
much he enjoyed working with them.

Meeting adjourned 11:30 P. M.

Respectfully sub~itted,

Elouise Campbell
Secretary

- u -- -. -. -. . --- .. - -. -. ..
