<br />(2) <br /> <br />25 <br /> <br /> <br />With reference to the matter of fencing the Howland Street entrance <br />to Mezes Playground, which was suggested to us by the City Council, <br />a motion was made, seconded and carried by Commissioners Campbell <br />. and Hanley that the Park Rnd Recreation Commission recommer1d to the <br />Ci ty Council that consideration be given to. install a S' chain link <br />fence at Mezes Playground. It was recommended that the Howland Street <br />fence consisting of 300' should be given first priorty. If it is <br />possible to have wings installed along Warren A.nd Allerton whi ch are <br />necessary, we recornnend that a fence l3l!' long extend down Warren <br />and 112' down Allerton, from Howland Street fence. <br /> <br />The approximate cost submitted: <br /> <br />300t H~md Street $ ~5.0C <br />l31~t Warren Street 219.00 <br />112'Allerton Street 173.00 <br /> <br />The Secretary was instructed to submit the above recommendation <br />and figures to the City Council along with the diagram. <br /> <br />Commissioner Gold reported that he was informed that the New Map <br />would be ready for our next meeting. <br /> <br />. Chairman Stout reported that the status of the fiG" Street proposed <br />playground is now a dead issue. <br /> <br />. Park Superintendent Pasco Balzarini reported that the Sprinkling <br />Systems have been installed in the reR.r of the swimming pool and <br />adjacent to the National Guard Building. He also reported that the <br />turfing of these areas will be done in the i~mediatefuture, also <br />that the turfing of Mezes Plaza was now completed. <br /> <br />Recreation Director Alfred Morton referred to a matter that has been <br />on the agenda for sever~l months. A request frOOl the representatives <br />of the Sequoia P T A, asking for additional Rctivities for the teen- <br />agers. He informed the Commission th,at a program will be reles.sed <br />in the very near future for a joint program with the City Recreation <br />Department and the Sequoia Boy's Physical Education Department. Thü <br />w~ll give every boyan opportunity to participate in the sport he like <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />Chairman Stout presented to the Com.mission the trophy won b, the Stars <br />of Tomorrow. This was the eighth trophy won by the group and it was <br />inscribed ,t19,3 South San Fran.cisco - Business Men's Association 4th <br />annual Kiddies Pare.de, best drill team. n <br /> <br />There being no further buslness the meeting was adjourned at 9:40 PM <br /> <br /> <br />Elouise Campbell, Secretary <br /> <br />
