He requested the Secretary t.o <br />contact the City Attorney regarding the liability if this project gets <br />unde r\vay . <br /> <br />Conimis sioner Cathari_ne Brennan reported on the ne1V Supervis or of Re crea- <br />tion ICay Sandas stating that she is now getting a strong program underway <br />for the children of Redwood City. She also stated that she was a resident <br />. (J <br /> <br />of Santa Cruz and a graduate of San Jose State College. <br /> <br />Chairman Hanley stated that the Park Department now has the new tractor <br />and is doing a good job. <br /> <br />A letter from the Y. M. C. A. regarding the portion of property adjacent <br />to the proposed building they contemplate on building should be submitted <br />to the Real Estate Committee. <br /> <br />Commissioner Alvn Beals reported on the concession at Hawes Park. He <br />stated that the Ci ty Council wants B. basic standr.rd when bids are sub- <br />mitted. He stated that he discussed th1.s matter with the Citv Attornev <br />u ~ <br /> <br />and that there were 'several points to be considered such as location, <br />type of improvement, whether it was to be basket type, skid or wheel <br />type or permanent; tim,e that the concession would be opened in order <br />not to conflict with the merchants; liability insurance; length of time <br />for lease; sanitary inspector should subrit hts standards; water and <br />sewer; City Charter states that the leasee shall pay 2% of gross; enough <br />to warrant the clean-up. <br />Commiss1oner BeeJ s stated that he should have a final reDort to make B.t <br />the Apgust ~eeting. <br /> <br />Chairman Gold stated that he had not~ing to report on the Hawes Park <br />s vv i t c.b, . <br /> <br />Chairman Gold stated that he was not able to report on the Maddux or <br />Stulsaft Areas at the meeting, but would submit a report at the August <br />meeting. <br /> <br />Mayor Herkner reported a request of the schools to fence the Maddux rear <br />area for school and recrea.tion use and that the CorrJ.'11i.ssion 1vould be <br />asked to explore this program in the im~ediate future. <br /> <br />Park Supt.
