<br /> <br />Commissioner William Hanley reported on the findings of his <br />commi tteetoinvestigate berth"ing rates. He presented rates <br />from Berkeley, San Rafael and San Mateo. These ra tea are <br />charged according to the length or beam foot of the boat" and <br />are higher than the current rates being charged in Redwood <br />City's Yacht Harbor. C~1ssioner Hmley rec~ended that ~e <br />rates be revised upward to compare with existing ra~es in the <br />Bay ~a. ~ Ya~t ~~,has illered owositioo to ~ inc~ase \ <br />in berthing rates for the following reasons: no launching <br />facilities are availablej boats have to wait for high tide to <br />come in and go outj at low tide the ha~bor is unusable. <br />Alfred Morton has been appointed to this committee, and a <br />meeting is planned with the city council Yacht Harbor committee. <br /> <br />Chairman Gold stated that the grading of Mitchell Way will be <br />reported on at the next meeting. <br /> <br />'83, <br /> <br />" -" <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />.:;! <br /> <br /> <br />i . <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />.' <br /> <br />. <br />f <br /> <br />Commissioner William Hanley reported that the ground has been <br />turfed and the oak trees pruned at Maddux Park.. The park strip <br />bordering the creek will be carried on the next agenda. <br /> <br />Chairman Gold stated. that signs have been posted in Stulsaft <br />Park, NO GUNS. The plice department is unable to have a full <br />time patrol at the park. Mr. Olson reported that the spraying <br />tbr~:polson oak has been completed at Stulsaft Park. <br /> <br />ChAl,rman Gold recommended Commissioner William Hanley as <br />Vice-Chairman of the commission, to rep~ace Vincent Rambo, <br />recently resigned. This action was unanimously endorsed by <br />the Commission members. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />"'"- <br /> <br /> <br />Commissioner Alyn Beals has been contacted by the San Francisco <br />4ger business office, regarding trafning facilities"'in R~dwood <br />City. The 4gers wigh to lease a location for about three moo~s <br />of the year. Their essential need is a fence at least 7' high, <br />to prevent scouting. Commissioner Beals re commended an e.l wooden <br />fånce around the SW corner of C~unity Park behind Baird L~ber <br />Comp~y and across from the armory', He also flecommended <br />permission to UBe the shower's, dressing rooms and gym at the <br />Recreation Center. MSC by William Hanley and Gerry Verssen that <br />8. letter be wri tten to the Ci ty Council recorY1Ir1erlding that the <br />City invite the 4gers to Redwood City ~d provide the <br />necessary facilities. <br /> <br />Commissioner Louise Tornell spoke about a recent trip to Spokane, <br />Washington, where she called upon Park Supt Harold Abbott. <br />She discussed a program now being carried out in Spokane, Which <br />could be applied to Redwwod City, this being a~Park and <br />R~creation Foundation, to provide parks and recreation, and <br />governed ~ a board of trustees. With the establishment of the <br />foundation, the str~in on the city budget could be eased.
