Zoo
W fVlC61
Re: Follow-up to January 8, 2018, City Council meeting and for attention at February 12, 2018,
City Council Meeting
Dear Mayor Bain, Vice Mayor Howard, and Honored Council Members:
My name is Nina Peschcke-Koedt. I am a resident of Docktown Marina. I spoke at your
January 8, 2018, City Council meeting, and am here again today to speak. Given the complexity
and factual nature of some of these items, I thought it would be helpful to give you this letter as
well. I thank you in advance for your patience and interest in reading this letter and listening to
my comments. I realize this is a long letter, but I think it contains very important points for
Council's consideration.
This letter is to ask for these four actions from the City Council, further described below:
1. That Council direct City officials to give priority to current Docktown Marina residents
for any live aboard berths at the Redwood City Municipal Marina. PIease note that I and
other residents of Docktown have specifically asked to be permitted to move to the
Municipal Marina, and the City, the Harbor Master, and the relocation company
Overland, Pacific & Cutler (OPC) have taken no action on such requests. I also include
below a clarification on what you heard at the January meeting in response to your
question to Ms. Diaz.
2. That Council authorize Ms. Diaz and OPC to offer fair market value compensation for
the remaining residences at Docktown Marina, treating them as "floating homes" for
purposes of any appraisal. That specifically includes providing me an appraisal of my 2 -
bedroom, 1 -bath home at fair market value for such a residence in this location.
3. That Council authorize Ms. Diaz and OPC to extend the current eviction timing for
remaining Docktown residents until June 30, 2018, rather than the current date of
February 28, 2018.
4. That Council permit the public (including Docktown residents such as myself) to review
the report from OPC which was requested by Council at the January meeting.
The first two actions above are only relevant should the final decision be that I and others must
remove from Docktown. It remains my top priority and wish to remain at Docktown, and to
Save Docktown. This is my home and I love it here. I do believe that the City Council has the
authority to keep Docktown as a live -aboard marina and retain current residents such as myself.
I will continue to ask Council to make that decision, and will hope that that is the ultimate
