g. I therefor ask that the Council authorize and direct Ms. Diaz and OPC to extend
the current eviction timing for remaining Docktown residents until June 30, 2018,
rather than the current February 28, 2018.
4. Review of OPC Update Report to Council.
a. At the January Council meeting, Council (I believe Council Member Borgens)
asked that Ms. Diaz request a written report from OPC for Council's next meeting.
I understand that report was to include information about assistance offered on
relocation, the Municipal Marina and other opportunities, and what was offered to
low-income residents like myself, in addition to other matters. Council had also
expressed a desire to include metrics and clear accountability in the OPC contract
going forward.
b. Having lived in this Docktown situation for over a year now, and talked with City
officials, OPC representatives and neighbors at Docktown, I think it is important
that Docktown residents and the general public be given the opportunity to review
and comment on any such OPC report.
c. I do understand that this is a difficult situation, and there may be no bad intent by
anyone. However, it is clear to me that Council is not being told some of the real
facts of what is actually occurring at Docktown and what OPC is doing with
residents. I am not talking about opening this up for "opinions" or "emotions,"
but rather to real facts of what is occurring.
d. My guess is that what Council actually intended by the Docktown Plan and
wanted for the Docktown community is not happening, and there is
miscommunication, misunderstanding or other factors getting in the way.
e. Therefore, I ask that Council permit the public (including Docktown residents
such as myself) to review the report from OPC which was requested by Council at
the January 8 meeting, and to provide comments highlighting factual inaccuracies
back to Council.
Thank you very much for your consideration and patience in reading this and listening to my
comments. I appreciate the difficult job Council has in this matter, and your willingness to bring
understanding and kindness to help resolve it.
Sincerely, $
NwaPeschck, Koedt
