To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br /> From the City Manager <br /> <br />February 25, 2002 <br /> <br />Subject <br />Agreement for Professional Consultant Engineering and Design Services for the <br />Preliminary Design of the §th Avenue Storm Drainage Pump Station <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />Approve an agreement with BKF Engineers of Redwood City, California, for providing <br />consultant services for the Preliminary Design of the 5= Avenue Storm Drainage Pump <br />Station, in an amount not to exceed $44,109. <br /> <br />Background <br />The first phase of the Friendly Acres Area Flooding Program (installation of a 66" <br />collection pipe in 5th Avenue, from Broadway to Rolison Road) was completed in March, <br />2001. <br /> <br />The second phase of the Project (installation of a 66" collection pipe under Hwy 101, <br />from Rolison Road to the 5 Avenue Pump Station, located at the Harbor Village Mobil <br />Home Park) is in it's final construction stages (junction box and clean up), and <br />scheduled to be completed in March 2002. <br /> <br />The third phase of the Project consists of the construction of a new storm drainage <br />pump station to replace the existing, under capacity, and out-dated pump station, <br />located at the Harbor Village Mobil Home Park. The construction is scheduled to begin <br />in summer 2003. <br /> <br />The purpose of this preliminary design is to determine the cost and feasibility of <br />constructing the new pump station. The scope of the preliminary design includes: <br /> <br /> Meetings with property owner and City staff <br /> Aerial/Topographic Survey <br /> Investigate pumping alternatives <br /> Determine the maximum space, and/or additional easement for new pump <br /> station <br /> Identify environmental review agencies <br /> Prepare preliminary construction cost estimate <br /> Prepare design report <br /> <br /> <br />
