<br />1 5.02.4 Government Liaison. Contractor shall designate in writing a <br />2 "Government Liaison" who shall be responsible for working with the Manager and/ or <br />3 the Manager's designated representative(s) to resolve service recipient complaints. <br />4 <br />5 5.03 Education and Public Awareness. <br />6 <br />7 5.03.1 General. Contractor acknowledges and agrees that education and <br />8 public awareness are critical, key, and essential elements of any efforts to achieve <br />9 diversion. Accordingly, Contractor agrees to take direction from Agency to explore <br />10 opportunities to expand public and service recipient knowledge concerning needs and <br />11 methods to reduce, reuse, and recycle Solid Waste, and to cooperate fully with Agency <br />12 in this regard. Contractor's public education plan is included as Exhibit C. <br />13 <br />14 Contractor shall perform all of the public education activities related to <br />15 the transition to new services, as described in Exhibit C. These education activities shall <br />16 include, but not be limited to: mailings prior to the start of service, flyers handed out, <br />17 follow-up mailings or hand-outs related to the new services, commercial advertising, <br />18 annual Recycling Day schedules and the mailing and hand-outs of SBWMA/ Agency <br />19 newsletters upon request. <br />20 <br />21 5.03.2 Content Approval. Contractor shall make available to Agency, and <br />22 Agency shall approve prior to their use, all public educational materials used by <br />23 Contractor. At a minimum, Contractor materials will describe the specific types of <br />24 Recyclable Materials, Commercial ()rganic Materials and Plant Materials, explain how <br />25 to prepare materials for Collection, and explain how, where, and when to set out <br />26 Containers for Collection. <br />27 <br />28 All public educational materials shall be printed on or manufactured from <br />29 recycled materials whenever possible and contain the highest practical level of post- <br />30 consumer content. Contractor's primary educational materials shall be available in <br />31 English and Spanish. Contractor may produce materials in additional languages for <br />32 which there is a demand. <br />33 <br />34 5.03.3 Community Events. At the direction of Agency or SBWMA, <br />35 Contractor shall participate in and promote diversion techniques at community events <br />36 and local activities. <br />37 Such participation would normally include providing, without cost, educational and <br />38 publicity information promoting the goals of Agency's waste reduction and recycling <br />39 programs. <br />40 <br />41 5.03.4 Notification to New Service Recipients. Immediately upon request <br />42 for new service, Contractor shall notify the new service recipients of the Recyclable <br />43 Materials, Commercial Organic Materials and Plant Materials Collection services <br /> Atty / Agrj2005.022 <br /> 060205 -33- <br />
