Total construction time for the 2001-2002 Slurry Seal Project is thirty (30) calendar <br />days. <br />On June 19, 2002, a bid opening was held. The four (4) bids received for the 2001- <br />2002 Slurry Seal Project are summarized below: <br /> <br /> Apparent Bid Actual Bid <br /> Rank Contractor Amount Amount <br /> 1. American Asphalt Repair & Resurfacing <br /> Co., Inc. - Ha}ward, CA ~;311,935.50 I;311,935.50 <br /> 2. Intermountain Slurry Seal, Inc. - <br /> Watsonville, CA 3326,535.05 ~328,776.05 <br /> 3. California Pavement Maintenance <br /> Company, Inc.- W. Sacramento, CA ~;309,094.00' ~333,944.00' <br /> 4. Valley Slurry Seal Company - W. <br /> Sacramento, CA 3356,995.65 $356,995.65 <br /> <br />* California Pavement Maintenance Company, Inc. of W. Sacramento, California <br />appeared to be the "apparent' Iow bidder. However,' when reviewing the bid <br />documents, it was found that there was a mistake in their calculations. <br />Consequently, American Asphalt Repair & Resud:acing Co., Inc. of Hayward, <br />California with their Iow bid of $311,935.50, became the lowest responsible bidder. <br />The Iow bid by American Asphalt Repair & Resurfacing Co., Inc. is 5.7% higher than <br />Engineer's Estimate of $295,000, and is considered a good and responsible bid. <br />American Asphalt Repair & Resurfacing Co., Inc. has contracted with the City in the <br />past, and they are considered a good and responsible bidder· <br />Alternatives <br />Do not approve the contract for the 2001-2002 Slurry Seal Project, which would be <br />contrary to prior Council action. <br />Fiscal Impacts <br />Funds in the amount of $1,200,000.00 are appropriated in the 2001-2002 Capital <br />Improvement Program budget as part of the Transportation (Measure "A") Fund. <br />Excess monies will be used for the upcoming Slurry Seal and Oveday Projects. <br />· a er Sarwary "/~ B?uce Liedstrand ' Ed Everett <br />Associate Civil Engineeru Community Development Services Director City Manager <br /> <br />JP/MSS:ss <br />S/mydoclibrary/reports/Award01-02 slurry seal <br /> <br /> <br />
